Breast Reconstruction

This 71 year-old woman had been treated previously for right breast cancer with a mastectomy and radiation therapy. She was uncomfortable wearing an external prosthesis and desired reconstruction of her breast. This was accomplished using tissue from her back (a latissimus dorsi flap) and a tissue expander in the first phase of breast reconstruction. She later underwent placement of a saline breast implant in the reconstructed breast and a breast lift on the other breast to improve her symmetry. Nipple reconstruction was done on the right breast in the third and final stage of reconstruction. Height: 5’5” Weight: 150 lbs.
